Successful test run hydrogen train

Alstom’s hydrogen powered train, Coradia iLint, has successfully completed its first test run at 80 k/ph. The test demonstrates, that hydrogen is suited as a fuel for trains as well, says Alstom on their website.

Coradia iLint is the world’s first and only hydrogen train. The train will undergo further testing in Germany and the Czech Republic this year, before it can carry passengers on board in the beginning of 2018. Also, the first trips of 2018, which will be on the trajectory Buxtehude–Bremervörde–Bremerhaven–Cuxhaven in Germany, will be test drives.

Alstom has in letters of intent written, that it plans to produce 60 hydrogen powered trains, which should, amongst others, be rolling on the rail tracks of Lower Saxony, North Rhein Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg.
